The Watchers app was created to help cat owners who struggle to find someone reliable to care for their cat while they are on vacation.
Because cats are territorial animals, it is usually better for them to stay in their own home instead of being moved to another place.
This means that when I need someone to look after my cat, that person has to come to my house, and I have to feel confident trusting them with both my cat and everything else in the home.

The Problem:
Cat owners struggle to find reliable care when they go on vacation. They worry about leaving their cat, and the search for someone to help is often exhausting. In many cases, one person cannot commit to the entire period.
The Insight:
Because cats are territorial animals, they feel safer and less stressed when staying in their own home. This means owners need someone they can trust to come into their house and take care of the cat, not just a temporary.
The solution:
The Keepers app connects cat owners with a trusted community of caretakers who can share responsibilities. This provides flexibility, peace of mind, and ensures the cat can stay comfortably at home while the owner is away.

To verify that there is indeed a problem in finding a cat sitter and that there is programming for the program, cat owners were asked to answer a questionnaire.

Strong focus on the cat’s needs Most respondents expressed a deep concern for their cat’s well-being and emphasized the importance of proper care during vacations. They prefer that their cat be taken care of by family members or trusted friends—people who understand the cat’s unique needs.
Avoiding long vacations Several respondents mentioned that they avoid taking long vacations if they do not have a reliable solution for their cat’s care. Some even limit their travel altogether to prevent leaving their cat without proper attention.
Preference for familiar caregivers at home The majority of respondents indicated they would rather have someone the cat already knows come to their home. Many want a person to either stay in the house for the entire vacation or visit at least twice a day. This reflects their desire for more personal, attentive, and consistent care for their pets.
